Draft - 53’ with twins
Washburn’s used a giant sawzall to cut 6 inches off the center keel (i.e not the skegs) of our twin 53 when it was commissioned in US. As everyone here says, draft is very dependent on the individual boat.

Our 2005 57 has a published draft of 5'-9", but the actual is 6'-9" (+/- depending on load) which I have accurately measured while on the hard, and confirmed at multiple places along the ICW and Bahamas.  Moral of the story is don't believe what you hear and measure it yourself while on the hard.

BTW, I asked Howard Chen about the discrepancy, and he said with his typically good sense of humor, "you have too many shells" referring to Kelly's collection.

Our 2007, 53-071, twin Cummins, has a draft of 6'-8". I've measured it multiple times and confirmed with Howard and a couple of times on the intercoastal!

We have a 2009 53 twin engine whose draft is 5'10".

And mine was ordered by us in 2006 and delivered in 2010 with a 5'10" draft. New 6047 is planned to have a draft of 6’4”.

Jack Burgess, Shangri-La 5388 (sold) & 6047 (in build)

Both are correct. They have been build both ways.

My twin 53 was ordered and built at the factory with a 5' draft.
