Sunday Sunrise December 21, 2025, 7:19 a.m.

Winter solstice. First day of astronomical winter. Gonna be a short but pretty one!

And yes, I am out walking the dock in my bathrobe and flip flops scaring the neighbors and taking pics.

Since John on Seeker has kidnapped this thread and turned it into a fashion competition, I must pick up the gauntlet he threw down. I agree his fancy shorts do look like a Jeff Merrill shirt and go amazingly well with his margarita. He rocks! Just maarvelousss!

So, In true never say die competitive fashion, I will introduce the 2025 Holiday Apparel Line from Shangri-La.

Photo 1 - Typical Outdoorsman of Northern Neck of Virginia chamo chef’s pants and classic plaid shirt with a Cheney resistant shotgun blast protective beanie.

Photo 2 - A South of the Border Inspired version of chef’s pants featuring candy apple red pimento peppers on a simple black background paired with a light green sunshield fishing shirt and Selene ball cap.

Photo 3 - A Gourmet Selection of multi-colored peppers displayed on midnight black chef’s pants with a bright yellow sunshield fishing shirt and Santa hat.

How do you like that for a runway stroll?

I'll add one to the mix. Taken in Mälaren Lake just west of Stockholm

Well, I suppose you are absolutely correct. And you have thrown down the gauntlet. When I have someone awake around here to take a photo, I am going to WOW you with some equally auspicious chef’s pants i wear when I am feeling brave (I admit to owning more than one pair). And it might take a Bloody Mary to get me into them.

Stay tuned!

"Hey, I may not be a bespoke tailor, but at least I'm not afraid to rock a unique style! Who needs high fashion when you can have fun with your wardrobe, and a really great Marg? 😄"

But, of course, I don’t claim to be a bespoke tailor or high faulutin’ wardrobe specialist or anything like that. Just sayin’.

I am likin’ what I see. Apparently, the sun sets sort of pretty just about everywhere. But, about those funky shorts.

Here are a couple of submissions from M/V Koinonia:

1. First is from Meyer's Chuck Alaska
2. Second is in an anchorage on Dundas Island, right at the Canada/Alaska border (this one is courtesy of Gerry Long, who took it from his drone).

Not on a boat but still nice. No filter. Logan airport.

Attached is today’s photo from our dock on the Potomac River. It is blowing a gale now with our flags (Stars and Stripes and No Kings Since 1776) standing straight out, waves crashing on our rip rap, light snow falling and around 34 degrees outside. No fishing today, but fond memories of yesterday when we limited out in five minutes after seeing nothing for three hours. Then we fun fished and caught and released stripers to 28” until sunset when we took the first photo in this thread. THAT was a red sky!

Also attached is Howard’s favorite photo from our dock. He is painting this scene in three panels for us to be installed on Selene 6047 Shangri-La. It is sunrise rather than sunset, but our view when we wake every morning. Sort of special.

Worst part of this whole exercise is that the picture doesn’t begin to do justice to how beautiful it is in real life.
The picture is simply amazing.
The real life experience is mind blowingly beautiful.

Keep up the great work Jack.

I wanna ride…….

Some sunset challenge candidates. Plus, Linda, Joe, Corey and Tracy found Steve Covington in a bar drinking rum!

Of course, you will need to display a fishing rod or evidence of fishing in the photo, as in the primary photo, which was taken inadvertently. We simply slayed the Chesapeake Bay Rockfish this afternoon, guaranteeing any visiting guests a proper main course at dinner. Primary purpose of the photo was just to show the scene without the piscatorial chaos - a moment of peace. That is free and unpredictable.

Damn right! That is a spinning or bait casting rod in the foreground. We caught all the Rockfish we wanted 17” - 28” on light tackle until dark. Quit at last light. We pride ourselves on our capability. Dinners aren’t bad at home.

MY photo of a sunset from the last 12 hours. Show me something more beautiful!
