I have not received anything from Howard regarding the logo and will reach out again. I would like to get the logo and patches done so that we can fly our colors when we ride. I rode yesterday and the day before on the NN of Virginia when some balmy weather appeared. It was a fun cruise through the twisties of farm and forest country in the middle of both days.
The Virginia DMV is on board with our Gang. See attached photo - I got SMOG 1 and 2 for my Triumphs, so if any brothers visit by boat or car I have a ride to share and we can cruise. Interestingly, the simple “SMOG” tag was not available as already in use by someone.

Jack,
Success! Howard will be tweaking and asking Arina and Jenny to digitize the patch. Stay tuned.

Brian (and any other SMOG folks at the Grand Opening) -
Please chat with Howard about completing the SMOG logo and about having 12” and 4” patches embroidered in China AFTER we approve the design and the dust settles from the GO. We do want to see the proposal he comes up with before it is finalized - we will vote on it as a group and ask for edits if necessary. I know he has been busy with the new facility and SMOG is likely on his back burner. Please confirm his continued interest in the project - I would prefer his artwork to mine and want to use his original design touches on the logo (especially the Selene) as that will make it very special for all of us. He talked about having a cast metal plate made for all the FF and that would be an awesome piece of art for our boats! Please bribe Howard for me - I have two Triumphs, he rides, and the next time he is in the USA he is invited to use one of mine and we can all tour the Northern Neck of Virginia for a few days. I have a plan!
SMOG logo attached for your use.

SMOGGERS and lurkers -
WARNING to Bravado Police - Hit delete now! Celebrating here a little. Not for your consumption. Just too much.
I have emails from Howard today that we are fully supported by the SMOG FF who built our boats, Howard, and we are nearing completion of our logo and patch design and production. I gave it my all and am going to push to get this done ASAP. Howard is as distracted as I am (definitely more), so please disregard any horrible comments he posts about me and my impatience for pushing him (even if it is all true). I get that he has an iron or two in the fire right now, so I am being graciously tolerant of his recalcitrance for a minute. I hope to have the loot ready for pickup and (hopefully) semi-legal transport of patches from China/HK to the USA for those of you lucky enough to visit the Yard for the Grand Opening Ceremony (and bringing contraband home for distribution - maybe due a SMOG badge of honor). Meanwhile, I will be sitting by the fire. The dude abides.
Rest assured transporters of gang stuff, the remaining Brothers will bail you out if busted for transporting illegal stuff (said no head bad guy gang organizer sincerely ever).

Jack, I am in agreement with all stated here but lean towards keeping the wings. I also think the helmeted rider is more fitting than a pirate face. I will be at the open house and can assist with transportation of any goods relating to SMOG.
Ride on!

John -
I think Howard can pen a pretty good Selene logo and will rely on him to complete that detail. He and Roger meet tomorrow with their combined creative juices flowing. Can’t wait to see the result. They have both been emailing and messaging me separately regarding this - just need to get them to a table together.
Regarding the wings, maybe we can raise the topsides upper line so that the rider’s helmet and the wings are both separated from the bow pulpit and distinctly below it. Wings do symbolize freedom, and we are all about that. And maybe we will buy parasails or winged toys next. Next sub-chapter FARAG - Float and Ride and Glide.

Really fantastic work. I’m leaning towards removing the wings on the biker so that the central image is not too cluttered. I am hopeful that the Selene logo can be emphasized at the top of the vessel. I agree about two sizes.

I am thinking that on the right side where the generic “XX” is, which usually displays some status such as Pres., V.P., special title, nickname, etc., we drop down the “USA” which is our chapter since we are from all over and display it laterally rather than continuing on the circle as in the earlier version. That will allow it to match up with the “FF” or other status/rank symbol displayed on the left side and contribute to symmetry. See modified prototype attached.
Also, the lightning bolts, in gold, can reach to the Gold Cove Stripe that is on every Selene, and they can be gilded as well. See the photo.
Thoughts?

The one color I did not mention, which is dominant and discreet at the same time - is GRAY. SMOG is gray, the combination of smoke and fog. The color gray is the background I propose for the logo - the place the motorcycle, the boat and the lightning bolts all come from. Gray is the ultimate compromise, a blend of black and white. Gray represents wisdom, intellect, knowledge and diplomacy, all characteristics that (hopefully) come with aging and gray hair.
Just thinkin’ - Jack

For an additional touch of color, I suggest that the lightning bolts be bright gold (Our Mar-a-Lago touch, in honor of businesswoman and socialite Margaret Merriweather Post, for whom it was built between 1924 and 1927). That would result in our color scheme being black, white, blue and gold. Black - power, elegance, mystery; White - purity, innocence, perfection; Blue - trust, loyalty, security; Gold - wealth, power, divinity.
Please comment so that Roger and Howard can roll on.

After comments, the latest iteration of the SMOG logo is attached. Better biker, waterline lowered, lightning bolts, wings on biker. Comments?
Roger, please share this image and resulting comments with Howard.
